Organic and Specialty Foods in Chile
Most of Santiago’s supermarkets are not bastions of variety. Supplies for making your favorite international delicacies are difficult to find, but they do exist. If you are looking for a particular item, ask around. Chileans and experienced expatriates have learned how to find specialty items and keep good mental
notes.
The concept of organically grown foods has not caught on in Santiago, but
these too exist in some corner of the city. If you worry about pesticides in
your foods, you may want to think about organic products. Chile´s has less
stringent pesticide regulations than North America and Europe.
