Mini markets (minimercados) and supermarkets (supermercados) apparently were not enough for Santiago. The city has a handful of large supermarkets called hipermercados. Hipermercados like the Jumbo in Las Condes, Santiago’s largest, are an excellent opportunity to find the food items that are difficult to find in Chile. They carry foreign specialty items that are difficult to find in Chile, like peanut butter and microwave popcorn.
