You´re in: Home / Pasaje Loreto

Loreto areaPaseo Loreto

Immediately to the east of Paseo Loreto are five large apartment house towers, recently built, overshadowing the street below.  But Paseo Loreto - built nearly eighty years before – remains the same with its very staid, German architectural style on the east side of the street, and a totally non-descript west side of the street featuring a series of typical neighborhood businesses.

The street life on Paseo Loreto is likewise a blend of the old and the new: there are two very old style hairdressing businesses, and one very new, very upscale and very gay “hair stylist.” There are two new, modern picture frame businesses on Paseo Loreto, but there is also a very old-style frame business that specializes in framing religious paintings.

On one side of Paseo Loreto is El Toro, one of the hottest and best restaurants in the city, catering mostly to the upscale artsy and literary crowd coming from the nearby TV stations; while on the other side of the street is a totally working class restaurant, complete with a corner TV tuned to the latest soccer match.

Best access: Metro Bellas Artes, walk to the Museum and then one block across the Parque Forestal and the Mapocho River passing over the Loreto Bridge.
