Creation of the CHIP human rights site - "Derechos Chile" - was funded by the Ford Foundation and chronicles the year-by-year history of the 17-year military regime that crushed the democratically elected government of socialist President Salvador Allende on September 11, 1973. The site gives a full accounting and complete time-line of all the major events that occurred during the Pinochet dictatorship.
