28. Altos del Rio Maipo river

Zone located in the upper third part of the Rio Maipo river's basin. Corresponds to the formation of the High Andean steppe of Santiago. It is an important corridor for animal species traveling between Chile and Argentina (guanaco, preico cordillerano). The zone called El Extravio- Cajon de los Mosquitos is significant due to the presence of highly located wetlands with a great fauna interest.
