INTERNSHIPS AT CHIP (THE CHILE INFORMATION PROJECT)

I. INTRODUCTION
The Chile Information Project (CHIP) is a pioneering, Internet-driven news and travel agency serving English speakers and international visitors from around the world.
CHIP was launched in 1990 by founder Steve Anderson, a U.S. citizen still living in Chile, and has received interns for the past 12 years. The internships offered by CHIP provide work opportunities for international interns at the CHIP offices so that they may gain professional business or writing experience in a foreign country.
Requirements of All Internship Applicants:
- All internship applicants must have a high intermediate level of Spanish and English with good computer skills.
- Interns must commit to a minimum of four months. Full-time interns must work a minimum of 40 hours a week. Part-time interns' working hours vary depending on project and position.
- Interns are not paid for their internship work, although sometimes paid working situations evolve from the internship experience. This means interns must have sufficient funds to cover basic food, housing and transport needs, estimated at US$500 per month or US$2000 for a minimum four-month internship.
- Interns must complete the application form at the end of this presentation. It costs no money to apply for an internship.

Unpaid internships are available at CHIP in broad categories including Sales and Marketing, Travel and Tourism, Journalism (at either the The Santiago Times or at the current CHIP Travel site), web site and Graphic Design (for all aspects of the CHIP project), and - most recently - Organic Farming and Campground Administration on an ocean-side farm near Puerto Montt, in Chile's Lake District.
