United Rent A Car - Chile

United Rent A Car offers cars, pick up trucks, and mini-bus rentals. All services include unlimited mileage, an additional driver at no extra charge, emergency roadside assistance 24 hours a day, and pick-up and drop-off at the airport or any hotel in Santiago free of charge Monday through Friday 9 am to 6 pm on normal work days.

On any day, pick-up or drop-off between 10 pm and 7 am are subject to an off-hour charge of US$35. Pick up or drop-off on weekends or holidays are subject to an off-hour charge of US$10. All charges are subject to 19% sales tax.

Drivers must be 23 years or older, and have a valid driver's license and credit card.

Pricing is done either by day or on a weekly basis. You can choose to rent various sized cars for which the price will vary, and there are also low season and high season rates. The rates listed below include basic insurance and tax.

Economy car (4-door hatchback, manual trans. 4 Adults, 2 carry-on bags)

The Standard Insurance Package, which is mandatory, includes coverage over collision damage, theft, and 3rd party liability within Chile. A deductible equivalent to US$500 plus tax is, however, applicable in case of damage to the rental vehicle.

This company is especially well suited for those who intend to stay more or less in and around Santiago, especially for the additional services you may be looking for. This has to do both with lower prices, and also with the fact that United charges additional fees for drop-off outside of Santiago ranging from $48.00 (up to 94 miles out of Santiago) to $310.00 (up to 625 miles out of Santiago).

If you intend to travel from Argentina to Chile, United offers permits and insurance priced according to the number of days and is valid for multiple entry to Argentina. Each price includes 3 permits, but you must indicate how many permits you need when you book it and each additional permit costs $5.

10 days: US$ 200.00

180 days: US$ 310.00
