Possible Immunizations Chile Travelers There are no vaccination requirements to enter Chile. However the following vaccinations may be worth considering for your specific Transmission of hepatitis A virus may be a concern and the vaccine is recommended prior to travel. It can occur through direct person-to-person contact; through exposure to contaminated water, ice, or shellfish harvested in contaminated water; or from fruits, vegetables, or other foods that are eaten uncooked and that were contaminated during harvesting or subsequent handling. Hepatitis B vaccine is now recommended for all infants and for children ages 11–12 years who did not receive the series as infants, as well as for adults prior to travel. Typhoid vaccine is recommended for all travelers to Chile, with the exception of short-term visitors who will only be eating meals at major restaurants and hotels, such as business travelers and cruise passengers. The rabies vaccine is recommended for those traveling to Chile that will be at high risk for animal bites, such as veterinarians and animal handlers, and for long-term travelers who may have contact with animals and may not have access to medical care.
