Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park:
Approx. 66 km E of Puerto Varas, near the town of Ensenada, this was Chile´s first national park. With its pristine lakes, native forest and snow capped volcanoes (maximum altitude of 3400 meters), this is one of the most impressive natural regions in the Lake District. The Lago Todos los Santos, the most beautiful of all lakes in southern Chile, lies in the heart of Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. There are opportunities for hiking, sea kayaking and more. Contact any of the tour agencies in Puerto Varas for info or excursions. It must be known that this is the lakes region, and what causes lakes? Rain. There are an average of 200 days of rain a year in the region, but summertime (December through February) is the driest. Saltos del Petrohué:

Volcán Osorno:
Easily reached from Ensenada, 50 km E of Puerto Varas. At 2652 meters, Volcán Osorno is one of southern Chile's most challenging climbs. Ice climbing equipment required to summit, and a few shelters are available. Some routes skiable year round. Contact our travel agency for more information.
